On Sept 12, the second working meeting of the ASEAN-Hainan Free Trade Port (HNFTP) Think Tank Network was held online and offline.
A total of 16 members of the think tank network from seven countries, including China, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Cambodia, attended the meeting. They exchanged ideas on how to use the Hainan FTP platform to help Chinese enterprises enter ASEAN markets for investment and cooperation, as well as on how to better utilize the intellectual support role of the think tank network.
The ASEAN-HNFTP Think Tank Network , jointly initiated by 17 think tanks from nine countries, was established in April. It serves as an important platform for academic exchanges and cooperation between ASEAN countries and China. The network held its first working meeting in May.
At the second working meeting, the experts affirmed that Hainan FTP should give full play to its geographical and political advantages to promote higher-level and wider-scale cooperation between China and ASEAN.
Chi Fulin, president of the China (Hainan) Reform and Development Research Institute, suggested that the think tank network should build an institutionalized exchange platform to help Chinese enterprises enter ASEAN markets by organizing forums, seminars, and training activities, as well as by promoting mutual visits and lectures.
Experts from Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Philippines also delivered speeches, suggesting that cooperation between the Hainan FTP and ASEAN should be deepened and span the fields of industries, logistics, culture, agriculture, as well as technology.
