According to Haikou Customs, in the first 8 months of this year, the import and export value of goods trade in Hainan reached 125.75 billion yuan, up 45% year-on-year, 34.9 percentage points faster than the national growth rate in the same period, the growth rate ranking fifth in China.
In the first 8 months of this year, Hainan's export of goods trade came in at 40.2 billion yuan, up 96.9% year-on-year, 82.7% faster than the national growth rate in the same period, ranking third in the country. While imports reached 85.5 billion yuan, an increase of 29% from a year earlier, 23.8 percentage points higher than that of the whole country, ranking fourth in the country. In August, Hainan's import and export of goods trade reached about 15.8 billion yuan, rising 23.5% compared with the same period last year, 14.9% faster than the national growth rate in the same period.
In the first 8 months, the imports and exports in Hainan’s 17 cities and counties have all shown an increase. Among them, imports and exports of Danzhou (including Yangpu) reached 57.8 billion yuan, up 39.9% year-on-year, accounting for 46% of the provincial import and export value in the same period. It has contributed 42.3% to the province’s foreign trade growth.
During the same period, Hainan's imports and exports to countries along the Belt and Road Initiative achieved nearly 45.6 billion yuan, a growth of 89.9% from a year earlier. imports and exports to other RCEP member countries reached 44.2 billion yuan, an increase of 25.2% year-on-year, accounting for 35.1% of the province’s total import and export value. Hainan's imports and exports to ASEAN member countries amounted to about 22.3 billion yuan, up 50.4% compared with the same period last year, accounting for 17.7% of the province’s total. The figure to the EU rose by 46.4% year-on-year to 20.3 billion yuan, accounting for 16.2% of the province’s total.
Hainan imported 30.6 billion yuan of consumer goods, a year-on-year growth of 7.3%, accounting for 35.8% of the province's total import value in the same period. In terms of exports, a total of about 12.8 billion yuan of mechanical and electrical products were exported, an increase of 212.4% year-on-year, accounting for 31.7% of the total export value in the province. It shows that, consumer goods play a leading role in imports, and mechanical and electrical products present a double growth trend.
