2023-06-02 16:0520

From April 26 to 28, the third round of negotiations on the China-Nicaragua Free Trade Agreement was held in Beijing. Wang Shouwen, International Trade Negotiator and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Commerce, and Bermudez, Minister of Development, Industry and Trade of Nigeria, led a delegation to discuss important issues such as trade in goods, cross-border service trade, investment, intellectual property rights, and sanitary and phytosanitary measures. In-depth consultations were conducted, positive progress was made, and consensus was reached on the next work arrangement. At the same time, China and Nigeria jointly announced that the "Arrangement between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Nicaragua on Free Trade Agreement Early Harvest" will come into effect on May 1.

China and Nigeria agreed that since the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two sides, under the personal care and guidance of the leaders of the two countries, bilateral trade has increased significantly and economic cooperation has continued to deepen. The China-Nigeria Free Trade Agreement negotiations launched in July 2022 is another important achievement of bilateral economic and trade cooperation since the resumption of diplomatic relations. After the signing of the agreement, the economic complementarity between the two sides will be further brought into play, and new impetus will be added to the sustainable development of bilateral relations.
