On July 7, the first meeting of the joint committee of the "China-Georgia Free Trade Agreement" was held in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. Han Yong, Director of the World Trade Department of the Ministry of Commerce, and Aviladze, Deputy Minister of Economic and Sustainable Development of Georgia, co-chaired the meeting. The two sides spoke highly of the effectiveness of the five-year implementation of the "Agreement", conducted in-depth exchanges on SPS, TBT, rules of origin, customs procedures and trade facilitation, trade in services, trade promotion activities and other key issues of concern to both sides, and formulated the next work plan.
The "China-Georgia Free Trade Agreement" came into effect on January 1, 2018. It is the first free trade agreement initiated and concluded by my country after the "Belt and Road" initiative was proposed.
