Representatives from nearly 30 foreign-funded consumer retail enterprises, such as Walmart, Itochu, Amway, Yihai Kejie, Sojitz, and Shanyinred, attended the meeting.
Zhu Xiaojun, deputy director of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Commerce, said at a symposium that the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee has pointed out the direction for the development of China's retail industry in the coming period. As the first economic province, Guangdong has a permanent population of 128 million and a real-time active population of more than 160 million. The social consumer goods retail scale has been the first in the country for 41 consecutive years. The consumer market is large and dynamic, providing a deep market soil for the development of various retail formats. At present, Guangdong is carrying out the "Yue Enjoy Warm Winter, Enjoy Guangdong" consumption season activity, which aims to gather more人气 and promote consumption. It is hoped that foreign retail enterprises will make full use of the package of policies to promote consumption and better integrate into the Guangdong consumer market, further strengthen their confidence in long-term investment and in-depth development in Guangdong, and share the development results of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Representatives from foreign-funded retail enterprises in attendance proposed suggestions and opinions on promoting consumption and deepening cooperation. They all expressed their optimism about the broad market and development opportunities in Guangdong, and expressed their willingness to continue to increase investment in Guangdong, introduce higher quality goods, update business forms, and diversify scenarios, further stimulate consumption vitality and promote consumption upgrading.
