On June 15, the first meeting of the China-Cambodia Free Trade Agreement Joint Committee was held in Beijing. Director of the International Department of the Ministry of Commerce Yu Benlin attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech, and Deputy Director Chen Chao made a closing summary. China and Cambodia conducted in-depth consultations on issues such as trade in goods, trade in services, rules of origin, customs procedures and trade facilitation, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, and economic and technological cooperation.
The meeting sorted out the implementation progress of the China-Cambodia Free Trade Agreement, fully affirmed the overall implementation effect of the agreement, emphasized that the agreement has effectively promoted the development of bilateral economic and trade relations, injected new impetus into the development of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries, and agreed to strengthen the promotion of the free trade agreement , further high-quality implementation of the free trade agreement, so that the preferential policies of the free trade agreement will benefit more enterprises and people of the two countries.
The China-Cambodia Free Trade Agreement was signed in October 2020 and will come into effect in January 2022. China is Cambodia's largest trading partner. In 2022, the bilateral trade in goods between China and Cambodia will reach US$16.02 billion, a year-on-year increase of 17.5%.
