According to Xiamen Customs statistics, from January to May, Xiamen's foreign trade import and export was 405.09 billion yuan, an increase of 12.8% year-on-year; of which imports were 216.63 billion yuan, an increase of 22.3%, and exports were 188.46 billion yuan, an increase of 3.6%.

　　1. Private enterprises are the largest foreign trade entities. From January to May, the import and export of Xiamen's private enterprises reached 178.1 billion yuan, an increase of 32.5%, accounting for 44% of the total value of Xiamen's foreign trade import and export during the same period. During the same period, the import and export of state-owned enterprises accounted for 36%; the import and export of foreign-invested enterprises accounted for 20%.

　　2. Exports are mainly mechanical and electrical products and labor-intensive products. From January to May, Xiamen exported 95.13 billion yuan of mechanical and electrical products, accounting for 50.5% of the total export value; exported 46.86 billion yuan of labor-intensive products, accounting for 24.9%.

　　3. imports are mainly metal ore, agricultural products and mechanical and electrical products. From January to May, Xiamen imported 46.25 billion yuan of metal ore, accounting for 21.4% of the total import value; imported 35.55 billion yuan of agricultural products, accounting for 16.4%; imported 34.05 billion yuan of mechanical and electrical products, accounting for 15.7%.

　　4. ASEAN, the EU and the US are the top three trading partners. From January to May, Xiamen's import and export to ASEAN was 73.34 billion yuan, accounting for 18.1% of the total import and export value; the import and export to the EU was 57.96 billion yuan, accounting for 14.3%; the import and export to the United States was 46.32 billion yuan, accounting for 11.4%.
