Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng met with the delegation led by Turkish Ambassador to China Ismail Haq Moussa yesterday.
Gong Zheng said that at present, we are accelerating the construction of a socialist modern international metropolis with world influence in accordance with President Xi Jinping's strategic positioning for Shanghai's development. Although Shanghai and Türkiye are separated by thousands of mountains and rivers, they have a long history of friendly relations. Shanghai and Istanbul have been sister cities for more than 30 years and have carried out extensive and fruitful exchanges and cooperation. Facing the future, we hope to take the high-quality development of the “Belt and Road” as an opportunity to further deepen the cooperation between the two places. We warmly welcome Turkish companies to participate in the CIIE and invest in Shanghai. We also encourage Shanghai companies to invest in Turkey. Turkey has a long history, and Shanghai is a blend of Chinese and Western cultures. It hopes to promote cultural exchanges and tourism development, and deepen exchanges and cooperation with sister cities around urban renewal, urban management, port construction, etc., and make greater contributions to friendly exchanges between China and Turkey.
Musa said that Turkey attaches great importance to China and Shanghai is very important to the relations between Turkey and China. Shanghai is the economic center of China, and being open to all rivers is an important connotation of Shanghai's urban spirit. We encourage Turkish companies to take root in Shanghai and contribute to Shanghai's economic and social development. Turkey welcomes investment from Chinese companies and will actively provide convenience. Hope to promote exchanges between the two peoples and welcome Chinese tourists to Turkey.
