With the aging population and economic development, the demand for medical supplies in Asian countries is increasing rapidly. By 2050, two-thirds of the world's population over the age of 60 will be in Asia. At the same time, the development of healthcare tourism has led to an increasing demand for medical products and services in the industry. In this environment, Hong Kong, China, located in the center of Asia, is an ideal platform for medical equipment transactions.

The Hong Kong International Medical Equipment and Supplies Exhibition was developed from the Hong Kong International Medical and Healthcare Services Exhibition. The Hong Kong International Medical and Healthcare Services Fair is a medical exhibition organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council in 2006.

In the next two years, the exhibition quickly became a good platform for medical practitioners to learn about industry trends and seek business opportunities, and also provided a way for the public to learn about new medical technologies. In 2009, the medical and healthcare exhibition has been replaced by the brand new Hong Kong International Medical Equipment and Supplies Exhibition.

During the three days of the exhibition, seminars continued to analyze new market information and trends for industry insiders. At the same time, there is also a forum for exhibitors, so that exhibitors can also have the opportunity to promote more novel medical equipment, new research and development achievements and services.

The Hong Kong International Medical Equipment and Supplies Fair was once again held concurrently with the annual event of the medical field - the 2015 Hospital Authority Symposium. The two grand events attracted many practitioners in the healthcare industry, driving a thriving flow of people at the venue. Practitioners said that the two events were held concurrently to facilitate them to keep abreast of new developments in medical supplies.
